Another top 100 book list

I found this list on rooruu‘s blog, where I found my previous book list too.

Australian booksellers Angus and Robertson polled their customers again for their favourite books.

Here’s the 2008 list they’ve just released.  MissN is most disgusted that Tolkien has fallen off the list and almost complained in A & R yesterday.

Do you want to play along and list yours?

My absolute favourite on that list is Pride & Prejudice. But I also loved The Power of One. And The Five People You Meet In Heaven was beautiful.

P&P was a very close second. I enjoyed The Power of One but it wasn’t memorable. A good yarn but not profound. I have yet to read the Five people You Meet in Heaven.

It is interesting to consider these lists, isn’t it?

Now what I’d be fascinated to see is how a list like this compares to sales figures in the last year – I’m sure that Tolkein, for example, probably would have outsold some of those here.

Of course these lists are utterly unscientific. But still fun.

  5. Sharon Says:

I loved both “The Kite Runner” and “A Thousand Splendid Suns”, both very rich and real novels. I also enjoyed “The Persimmon Tree” by Bryce Courtnay. It’s his first attempt at a love story and he did a great job.
